Hello from Berkshire, UK. Haven't logged in for a while so privileges removed it seems, but back now and have since crashed the beloved 8 Alas all is not lost, some plastics needed (if anyone has any speak now lol) new rear sets needed and new lid (£500 shoei gt air did its job but now gonna cost me lol) Will post pics up later but right now im deciding between.. Gilles, Lightec, Sato or Rizoma rear sets are being decided upon..pros and cons feel free to add your replies Cant wait to get the 8 fixed up again but looking like Spring 2015 now Still..had to come off sometime...Back to using the steel box. Damn! Sorry to hear that! Hope your alright
Rearsets based on looks..color...price...? I have sato..but I would recommend vortex..seems they hold up on the track ( dooms as well as another racer I have seen in person) my Satos seem to have bent when I dropped the bike in my garage( imagine at speeds...) a buddy had lightechs on his gsxr and it went down and I don't think the rearsets made it.
Just some info I have experienced..it don't know anything about gillies or rizoma

Hey woody, (same woody from the 779 cc forum? Gutted as my pride and joy sits damaged at the mo Snapped the right rear set off, wing mirror off, broke instrument plastic (bit above headlight), broke rear tail plastics and also the top tank cover aka the bat wing. So when I finally get parts I need to get them all sprayed up to match too as red/white is rare over here in uk. Gutted about my shoei gt air too...only been riding 5 months and had lid for 3/4 months only

Ref rear sets I am looking for good quality and good price. Don't wanna have to sell a kidney but don't want them looking cheap. How about Gilles? Only let down with the vortex is the shift rod outside the frame and the holey adjustment plate....

Welcome back and sorry to hear you went down. Vortex are sturdy as fuck and they're reasonably priced.

Thanks Dr D. well I have always ridden with the chance of coming off sometime. Lucky it was with no one around and not involving a car. Purely rider error but hey...fall off the horse...get uo and back on it

Heard a lot ref vortex on reviews and how they grind down as opposed to snapping in a slide unlike the lightec so that's good. Will look into valter and vortex now I think. Would fz1 rear sets fit? Found a cheaper Gilles set on ebay..?

Welcome back bigd! Sorry to hear you went down but glad you're ok! Robby Moto rear sets may be worth looking into, I really like mine but I haven't had a drop since I put them on and have no experience with the other brands.

Welcome back. In regards to your status, I do clean house and delete accounts that have been inactive for certain periods of time. You do not need to post to stay a member as I can see exactly when you last logged in. Just pop in once every few weeks and you'll be just fine. We have quite a few members with just a couple of posts, but they keep checking in, so I leave them be. Shit balls on the stack mate, hope you get it fixed up in time for next season.

Vortex rears are awesome. I loved the reverse shift option. Hold up well. I never dropped mine, but listen to Dooms story about trying to bend a set back in place. They had to go to a press to get it to come back. Solid shit mate. Sorry to hear about the accident. Get that shit repaired and hop back on!!!!!

Found a cheaper Gilles set on ebay..? Yes..that is the great thing about them! When I purchased my Satos..,they were for the fz1...so rearsets are the same (I went to yamaha and looked at a '12 fz1...identical rearsets..) only ones I recommend staying away from is dan moto..a buddy had em on his fz8 and they literally broke off while he was riding....LOL!
