Hi guys, Just picked up my 2012 FZ8 a couple days ago and have been hanging out on 779cc.org; another member recommended FZ8 Central, so here I am. Here's a quick shot of the bike before I tore it own this weekend to inspect everything: See you guys out there...

welcome to the fun house. Nice bike! An plans for mods yet? DJ Thanks, the original owner did the basics - integrated tail, turn signals, exhaust and tank pads. I'm looking to replace the exhaust that is on there with a Yoshi or other carbon fiber pipe, I dropped in a K&N today, and either reflash the ECU or put on a power commander to get things started. My last bike was an '03 R6 LE that I owned 7 years ago, so I'm really just getting back into the swing of things. I'm just excited to be back on a motorcycle.

I haven't hit any hardcore twisties yet so I can't comment much on the suspension other than it's soft, I don't like how much it dives under braking, but it's comfortable and I like it. Does everyone really like swapping out the suspension that much?

I don't like the suck in the corners. You get about a .25 into the turn and the bike sucks down abruptly

Right now I've got about $500 allocated for either new suspension, swapping tires (they aren't bad, just would like to switch from Battleax to Powers) or a new slip-on.

I say fz1 shock, i got mine for free but ive seen them as low as 100 bucks, You can do a r1 rear with a satan adapter. Thats rear suspension though. Im unsure of front at the moment.

If you can do the work yourself, I believe you can get front springs with valves and a new rear spring from racetech for under $500.

You can pick up an '07 or '08 R1 rear shock for about 80 and get a Satan adapter for roughly $50 (fuzzy on what I spent) You can have RaceTech rebuild you forks for $500 or you can buy RaceTech springs and gold valves for roughly $350 and do the work yourself You can also spent roughly $500 on gathering the parts you need to convert the 8 to R1 forks, front wheel and brakes

I'm assuming doing an R1 rear shock with the Satan adapter is most popular? I think I've seen that discussed the most.
