Hi everyone, New member here from Minneapolis. I work in an architecture firm in town and primarily work on graphics for building projects and marketing. I will be going into my 3rd year of riding this year and have two bikes; 96' suzuki gs500e and a 2013 Fz8. when i purchased the FZ8 last year, the idea was to sell the gs500, but i'm sort of attached to it now haha. slowly have been converting into a track bike... As for the fz8, I have been making simple mods here and there. most recently installing the Danmoto Carbon GP exhaust. I wasn't too sure if the danmoto exhaust would be good quality, but i figured its cheap enough... I've also been gathering more gear for riding. dainese air frazer jacket and pants, rain gear, boots and luggage (dryspec d68... waiting for Rezvilla to send). Looking for a new helmet... maybe shoei rf-1200. One thing that i'd really like to purchase next is a rear set. If anyone has recommendations, please let me know. I'm not sure if i have the budget to spend another few hundred dollars at the moment, but my birthday is next week so who knows! With the OEM rearset, I've been having a hard time shifting since the boots are more sporty. Thinking that aftermarket rear sets can help with this problem as it would put the controls further back and angled. anyways, I look forward to getting to know you all. Thank you, Louis

Welcome to the forum Louis! I also had a gs500 a few years ago and part of me wishes I still had it, neat little bike. There's several good rearsets out there, I have Robby Moto sets and really like them.

Welcome, start digging in the other sections of the forum, several threads on resets. Ride looks good. Are you going to put ice spikes on those tires and ride in the snow? LOL!

Thank you everyone! I'm glad you like my fz8.
Nice to see other MN FZ8 riders! Where did you get yours?! I bought mine from heinen's in osseo. $6k + tax. Much cheaper than Hopkins hitching post who wouldn't even let me test ride... And then followed up with 20 calls asking if I was gonna buy it aha.
I didn't know there were that many different rear sets out there. I saw the danmoto rear sets but has anyone installed those? Seems really close to stock set up...
I will have to checkout the other brands mentioned above in just a min.
I appreciate the warm welcome!
(The snowed on fz8 is from this Sunday... I had been riding for a week or so, then the MN weather took a one last turn w a few inches of snow. I installed the danmoto carbon exhaust the day before so I haven't had a chance to test ride it enough. Definitely adds character w the sound!)

Welcome to from sunny southern California. Great looking bike. I hope you r get to ride it sooner than later this season. The GS500E is a terrific fun track bike! I have DanMoto rearsets. They are very adjustable (some hate the shift rod on the outside of the frame, Doesn't bother me in the slightest) Here is a quick pic of the DM mounted. One recommendation if you get them. The bolt that attaches the shift arm and the brake arm is crap. It cannot be tightened without stripping the allen fastener. Replace with a .89 cent hardened allen bolt and washer and tighten away. Welcome. Enjoy, and be safe! Thank you, I should be back on the bike in a couple days when it warms up a lil bit. I only commute like 11miles 1way so I can suck it up in the cold aha. In regards to the DM, does it put you in a more aggressive riding stance? I think I saw somewhere it only moves back like an inch and up an inch. Seems like a good price compared to some of the other ones at $300+ Thanks for the tip on mounting bolts!

Welcome! Been looking forward to meeting more MN riders. Nice bike, what bar end mirrors are those? These mirrors are a eBay find. I think the real ones are rooms bar end mirrors, but this one is pretty much the same product as this mirror currently for sal on eBay. I got mine for $40-45. Search for this on eBay: Pair Clutch Brake Levers SBB Short Black for Yamaha FZ8 2011 2012 2013 Sold by: RIDEIT The mirrors are narrow so it can take some getting use to. See a lot of elbows aha. You just learn to tuck them in. I have round convex bar end mirrors on my gs500 that work great... I just don't like the round mirror look on my fz8. Like the more stream-lined mirror It is China made, but I think for the price the quality is decent. Had a lil rust spot on the hardware but it came off easily. holding up pretty nicely after a yr.
