Hey everyone, My name's Dakota and I'm new to here and any rider forum. I've been riding for about 2 years, and I just recently bought my second bike, a 2011 Yamaha FZ8. The bike is in no way near new condition, it needs some work, but mostly cosmetic. I'm stoked to be a part of this community and look forward to meeting other fellow riders and seeking advice. As of right now I'm looking to get new headlights and a new rear seat. I also need to get new blinker control. Not sure where to start looking, any help is appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this. PS. I don't ride in shorts and a T Shirt.

Welcome! I'm new to the forum as well... Not the fz8 or bikes in general though. Are you talking about a blinker relay? Turn signals are pretty basic. I find a light tester is quite a useful tool to use when doing them.

Hey man, I just bought a left handlebar blinker control/horn signal. Found the part on ebay. What do you mean by light tester?

Welcome. What part of CA are you located? That bike looks as if it was rode hard and put away wet! I think you should be able to find the parts you need to get it back together.

Check out the members map at the top of this thread group. There were 3 different 8's at one time in that area. Woody's bike was possibly the most modded bike on the site. fz8central.proboards.com/thread/1293/member-map?page=1

Welcome to the forum. What was your first bike? Still own it? Get that FZ8 road worthy again! Typically ebay is good to come up with what you are looking for. OEM parts can be found anywhere like revzilla ect. An option for body parts if you don't mind carbon fiber would be bestem...not exactly cheap tho. Sometimes you can find bestem selling on ebay for less than their website. www.bestemusa.com/FZ8-10-13_c_1480.html

Here are some more pics of my bike right now. Also, thanks Gnoizz! P.S. the R1 is my friends

Yo yo yo dgray and fz8kansas, I'm from the Bay Area - south of San Francisco. Thanks Siku! That clarified things for me. Get that bike together. I am wanting to do a ride up to Solvang (mid point for you, Woody, Gniozz and me. 3 FZ8's and a BMW). There is a great MC museum and euro food and beverages. First round of abelskeevers are on me. 2 S. Cal riders meeting up with 2 N. Cal riders...... rolling into the sleepy little tourist town from opposing streets....bring em to a halt with all front tires in an X pattern...front brake on...check, throttle wide open, check...dump the clutches in unison, check..... all fucking holy smoking rear tire hell breaking loose...... "we have arrived!" (this state is huge..500+ miles to a mid point and that is not even an 1/16th of the state). + 5 points for Besteem CF body bits. I have my fair share of them and a couple that were reduced to shards.... nice fit, light, durable, great looking stuff. Best, Dennis how is woody the mad man??? Hows that bmw??? Welcone aboard new member dig in and let rip

He got into a bit of trouble the day his Akrapovic was installed...he is sorting that out. He seems pretty relaxed and happy. If I can muster the courage to take a trip up his way with my now failing shoulder, I am going to. His schedule is wonky (has Sunday and Monday off, so ill need to work with his schedule a bit. Ill put the surgery off until it is the rainy season...since, well....me and rain.....have history. good idea m8... hahaha

Lol I talked to my friend he was telling me you can only do that with the 04-06 r1, the fz8 engine is a smaller version of the fz1 which uses a detuned version of the 04-06 r1 engine. He got that bike for free: funny story, his coworkers girlfriend kicked his coworker out and he had to get rid of it, it had a blown engine, my friend got it in his truck and took it for free, his coworker signed it right over
