Hey all,
For the last few years Ive owned a couple different R6s. Started off with a 99 model and sold it to pick up an 04 for the FI. I loved the power and agility of it but over time I found myself becoming unhappy with the riding position. My back and shoulders would fatigue easily and my hands were always falling asleep. So I made the jump and bought a 2012 FZ8. Aside from the fact someone rattlecanned the trim bright ass red, its a nice bike. Jump forward a week and I have returned the paint to stock (Lunar gray/Matte black), added a PCV and QS, replaced all fluids, changed plugs, installed an FZ1 rear shock, and have a new air filter and 15/48 520 sprockets and chain on order.
The only issues I have right now is the feeling that there are tiny little losses of power (almost feel like bubbles) under hard accelleration and that I can't seem to figure out how to get it to wheelie. I used to clutch up in second all day long on my R6 but this one just doesn't seem to want to do it. I'll say Im not a stunter and I don't try to ride the balance point for miles but I like to pick up the front end here and there; It's just fun. Honestly I thought the FZ would be more inclined to pick up the front since its supposed to have more tq than the R6 but Im thinking maybe the stance and the weight were factors I didn't consider. Hoping the new sprox will sort that matter out.
As for the power "bubbles" thats the main reason I changed the plugs and Have the new filter on order. I havent had much chance to ride yet as its been raining but Im hoping that makes a difference. I know I need a custom map but from all the things I have read for now the "jumbo" map should suffice. Im open to any suggestions to make it better in the long run.
Thanks,
Kris
