I may be getting an FZ1, most of the gear I have on the FZ8 will transfer straight over except the seats. What I am asking for is there anyone out there that would consider giving up their standard FZ8 forks and shock so I can fit them to my bike for trade in/sell. In return you will get brand new (with perhaps 15kms ridden on them) FZ1 forks and shock for your troubles.
Again this is only a maybe at this time and an idea.

Good time of year. Cold, many guys not riding so much so they might not worry about having the bike on stands for a week or two. Also A good time to buy a bike.

FZ1 forks will need the wheel to go with it for the larger axle. What did you do with your stock rear shock?

I have a stock front end. wheel, fender, forks, etc. You can have them if you pay for the shipping over. I think I still have the rear shock, I will look for that and let you know.

I will have to go on a long ride to re-think my plan, maybe just getting the engine is the easier option. My FZ8 shock went to a deserving place for it, the bin.

How many K's you got on the baddest Fazer in the land?

Doing the engine swap is surely cheaper than buying a new bike. I would start looking at salvage yards for a FZ1 that was wrecked. Restore the motor then swap.

15600kms I only got offered $5K for a trade in on a zx-14, that had turned me off a bit. I bet they put $10000 as the asking price. I might ride the shit out of it and enjoy what I have done to it.

They were going to screw you! Keep this bike and do an engine swap down the line not that you asked for my advice.

I don't reckon the engine swap is going to be what you're after mate. Your bike is at its best right now, enjoy that. Ride the rubber off it, track it! Spend some money on leathers and get a comfy two piece.... You've done heaps of K's on it before you got all the good bits bolted on, double that distance and reevaluate I'd reckon.

I know the engine swap is what I'm after, it's more if I could be bothered. Sounds like a next year job.

You really think you'll be completely satisfied with a Fazer 8 that's powered by an FZ1 engine? It'll be basically the same bike with a top end.

Camo dude do you really think the Kawi 14 wouldn't get old when he would take a huge loss on his bike, only be able to have fun in a straight line and not to mention all the additional money he'd have to pour into it. With the right build he can add the torque he needs for dragging and still have a bike that's fun in the twisties

All I need apart from a larger fuel tank, is more power. The bike handles better than anything I've ridden, ever. Apart from maybe slightly lowering the pegs, the bike is now comfortable. So that is all good. I'm finding real hard to buy another bike because not only because of the low trad-ins I've been offered but the mod process will only start again when I sit my fat ass on a different bike and it sags 100mm.....
So currently I have: Range: Acceptable Handling: Awesome Comfort: Good Power: Poor
So yes, I guess I am looking for the same bike with a top end, but I am a little worried about what it would do to the range. I'll admit it, I bought the wrong bike and should have probably not bought it in the first place. It was kinda plain on the test ride, but I thought I could get more from it. As it seems like I'll be offered poor trade in prices, it looks like I'm going to have to make the best of this situation. Also as I don't commute on the bike anymore I'm finding it hard to justify spending $15K plus on another bike, unfortunately, I'm now just a weekend warrior. The other option is send my bike back to stock and sell the goodies or play complete hard ball and see if these dealers want the sale. Problem is here, if I don't buy, there is at least ten cashed up miners behind me that will. I can't wait for the mining boom to be over.

He carves up pussies on their R1's and Gixxers and I have fun keeping up. The only thing is a brake or pad upgrade would be good as they fade. I don't think the 14 will be for me as the ride position is reasonably aggressive. To get more out of this motor would involve $1000's and may get me 10hp more. I think I have reached that point where enough is enough, but it's not enough, if you know what I mean. I think the end decision is ride the wheels of this thing and be more picky when the opportunity to buy a bike comes around again.
